Line Grenier

Thesis Supervisor

Line Grenier was born hearing. She only realized recently that, in addition to being hearing, she also lives as a hearing person. Already aware of being a woman, from Québec, white, gay, and Francophone, now she also knows that she is hearing as well.

Dr. Grenier, Professor at the Département de communication at the Université de Montréal, conducts research in the field of popular music studies and has a particular interest in the intersections between cultural practices (especially music) and ageing. She is pleased and honoured to accompany Véro during her doctoral studies as her thesis supervisor. Supervising students is one of her most rewarding professional experiences because it offers, among other things, rich human experiences, repeated opportunities for unique encounters, a site of productive exchange and unexpected knowledge, and a privileged space in which work is conceived as the ability to think differently… And that is exactly what Véro proposes : a different conception of Deafhood.
